I went alone to Kyoto - without my great guide and sitter Konosuke. Nevertheless, Konosuke accopanied me up the shinkanzen, maybe to be sure that I would not get lost in Tokyo.
The journey from Tokyo to Kyoto takes about two and half of hours. At the Kyoto station I had a meeting with Sugako. A small problem arised when I realised that I was lost at this once more overcrowded station and I wasnīt so sure where exactly Sugako should wait. "Keep calm", I said to myself and suddenly Sugako appeared.
We visited the most popular place in Kyoto - Kinkakuji pavilion (Golden palace) and next contiguous shrine complex (Ryoan-ji). In the afternoon Sugako wenz back to Kobe and I remainded in Kyoto by myself. I was going through streets in the evening, it was a crowded and crazy traffic jam scenery again. The night fell before I came to the nearest shrine. I was walking through dark gardens that had also an original magic. The streets are braided by small lightening lamps, in the shrine there is a lot of lampions. Japanese probably like small lights in general. A local walking his dog started to talk with me in one of the gardens and he adviced me to visit a Geisha-street - but that I didnīt see finally.
The next day I visited the other shrines, UNESCO monuments. With the end of the day coming I was "fed up" with shrines so I went to buy some suveniers:-).
I left for Tokyo in the evening. The platform was full of people again and many shinkanzens were passing around me. People were pushing inside and outside. I asked a few Japanese where to go, for luck all of them were kind and they never refused to help me. And if they didnīt speak English they could paint a tabular picture.
Konosuke asked me to call him when I would sit on a train. I couldnīt connect on mobile phone and a university operator claimed strongly that there was no Dr. Okada working at the university. "OK, so give me the extension 296, please!" - "You didnīt understand?", his answer. It wasnīt easy to persuade him what I need. Anyway, he finally found out that Mr. Okada is on the list, but he just didnīt see. :-)
I came back in the evening happily to my Tokyoīs flat and really tired I went to sleep immediately. Good night!
